Chicago Lolita Group, Fashion, Gothic & Lolita Bible, Infanta, Innocent World, lolita, Lolita Fashion, Lolita Meet-Up, Meet-Up, Milwaukee Lolita Society
Sunday, after a long night hanging out with my 501st Legion friends, I did double duty on Lolita meet-ups.
First up, was a “mini meet” at Mitsuwa. Mitsuwa is an Asian supermarket in the suburbs of Chicago. I grew up living about five minutes from there, and I used to go all the time, but I realized that I had not been there in a few years now. This was the first Chicago event I had attended since the Mega Meet last year, so I was EXTREMELY nervous, but everyone who was there was extremely nice.
The above photo only shows a handful of the girls who attended, several more showed up after this.
We wondered around the bookstore first thing, and I really should not have, but I ended up purchasing two “mooks.” First, I picked up the latest volume of Gothic & Lolita Bible, Volume 50. They had the three most recent volumes, but the 50th was the latest, plus it had a hard cover planner inside of it. The patterns are not that great, but I am still glad I purchased it. I only have scans for 1-40, so any of the newer ones are exciting for me. I really thought I was done with that, but we went back in there a little later (more girls had arrived) and I found this little gem:
An Innocent World mook, that contained a cloth violin bag!
The bag is really pretty, the details are embroidered on the front and there is an inside pocket. It is a decent size, though that was not a huge concern for me, as I normally prefer smaller bags anyhow. This is really my first big brand item. It may have come out of a mook, but it is still Innocent World. I can definitely use this with my Infanta Sleeping Beauty JSK, and I am sure I would acquire more brown pieces in the future (I want Chocolate prints, dang it!).
After the second time through the bookstore, we went over to the food court. I did not want to eat anything big, since I was going up to a dinner in Milwaukee, but I did have my first Bubble Tea…ever.
One of the girls suggested the Taro flavor, and I decided to take the risk and try it. It was tasty, though it is still odd chewing on little balls of tapioca in my tea. I will definitely drink bubble tea in the future, though I will probably try other flavors.
We all sat down and chatted then, and some of us went to the market at various times. I ended up going over to the bakery and picking up some bread: one filled with cheese, one filled with french cream, and one filled with chocolate cream…that was shaped like a turtle! I ate the cheese one right away to tide me over until dinner, and then I ended up eating the french cream one on the drive up. The turtle one I ate for breakfast this morning. 😀 Anyhow, I hung around until about 3:30pm, before leaving for Wisconsin.
I arrived at the restaurant a few minutes late due to construction, but I was still there before most. I ordered Soon Tofu with Beef, and my friend ordered a side of Kimchi for me (I LOVE KIMCHI). We ate, we chatted, we took pictures…pretty much business as usual.
I got a picture of my outfit as well, it is the Infanta Snow White JSK that finally arrived last week (I will post about that later). Someone took a picture of my hair at Mitsuwa, but it has not surfaced yet. It was curled and pinned up, with little red roses tucked into it. I cheated and wore snow boots, because…well…the weather sucked Saturday, and the world was still slushy.
After the dinner, a few of us went down the street to Yo Yogurt and I made an overloaded cup of chocolate yumminess.
It was a really fun day, and I cannot wait until my next meet-up. It looks like that may be the day after the Chinese New Year (YAY YEAR OF THE HORSE!), but I may or may not be able to afford the trip out for it.

I am so tempted by Bonnets, but I am equally, if not more, afraid of them. I am worried that I would look silly, or that it would not flatter my features.
At this point though, I am even overwhelmed by head eating bows, so maybe it is just something I need to work my way up to. I am pretty adjusted to wearing things on my head, so it is so odd to shy away from some of the typical Lolita accessories.
Last year at ACen, I was searching high and low for accessories to wear with my last minute, impulse buy, first outfit, and their were blue bonnets that a friend pointed out, but they really intimidated me. Now, I am really tempted to purchase the bonnet that matches Infanta’s Sleeping Beauty print.
Who knows though, by the time I can afford another Taobao order, they may have sold out of it. I suppose I will just wait until the time comes and decide then. Maybe in the interim, I will have the chance to try one on, both with and without a wig, and that could decide it for me.

As of 10:44am today, my package was in Flushing, NY! New York to Illinois, hopefully it will arrive here before next Saturday because I would love to wear Infanta’s Snow White for the Meet-Up on the 19th.
Flushing….isn’t that where The Nanny came from?

Just when I thought I was safe from Infanta for a little while after they recently released a Steampunk themed dress:
Don’t mistake my meaning, I love Steampunk, but I prefer my Steampunk clothing to be more…original and organic. Though they show a matching cape in other photos that I may be tempted by.
Anyhow. So, I thought I escaped. Then something I saw on Tumblr made me go check their site (something unrelated to either of these items), and I see this:
“Original printing * Cinderella * Coming shelves, so stay tuned“
What! I paused, does this mean they are shelving the Cinderella embroidery dress that I want or is this a new print? So I investigated, and I found this:
And upon even further investigation, I found this:
It is indeed, a new Infanta print featuring Cinderella. I MUST have this! I already have Infanta’s Sleeping Beauty in Brown, and their Snow White in Blue is currently mid-shipment (update the shipment status, damn you!), so here is another Infanta Princess themed dress I MUST add to my collection. I am curious what the colors will be, so far it looks like beige-ish and a dark blue. Between the two I would want the beige, since I already have the Blue Snow White. I am hoping for at least one more option, though I am not quite sure what color I would want that option to be. I just like some variety. 😀
Anyhow, I think I still want the Cinderella Embroidered dress they released previously, it may have moved slightly down on my list…I do not know though, do I really need two Cinderella dresses? I do not have the funds to order anything at the moment, so fingers are crossed on finding a job (I have an interview tomorrow), and I will decide once I have all the information regarding color and design of the new print.
Infanta, I love you!

Gothic Lolita Wigs, Holiday, Infanta, lolita, Lolita Fashion, Lolita Meet-Up, Mader's, Meet-Up, Milwaukee Lolita Society, Sock Dreams, Surface Spell Gothic, Wigs
Saturday was the MLS Holiday Dinner, and I was so excited because I had been saving one of my favorite JSKs for the night. The weather was horrific here that day though, so I almost could not make it.
I left the house much earlier, because I was having my headshots taken in Hoffman Estates. I changed at my friends house (the photographer), so we took a few photos of my outfit before I ran off to Milwaukee.
I had been hoping to wear a red beret with the outfit, but it has not arrived yet. 😦 Still, my friend was super weirded out by the concept of me with lighter hair. It was amusing.
I arrived at the dinner about ten minutes late because of weather, so I ended up being the first at our second table, but eventually the table filled up. We waited for most people to arrive before ordering, then while we were waiting for our food we exchanged gifts. Everyone was supposed to bring a small gift for everyone. It is a cute idea, though I think I would have rather it been an exchange of some sort. There were nearly 30 of us signed up to attend (although I think it ended up being around 25 there), so buying something small for everyone can become a bit expensive. Most people ended up just bringing candy, but there were a few other gifts. I brought cookies I baked, and little stampers. This was my haul:
Still, I think it would have been easier to say everyone bring a gift that is about $30.
I ordered something small, because the menu was a bit expensive (and I am still unemployed), but it was relatively good. There were a few main menu items I really wanted to try, but maybe I will find another chance in the future. After dinner, we waited in the bar area for them to finish closing our bill, because they needed to set up for brunch at the tables we had been sitting at.
Once all of that was taken care of, we gathered around Mader’s famous oversized chair for photos.
Outfit Rundown:
JSK – Infanta
Blouse – Surface Spell Gothic
Socks – Sock Dreams
Wig – Gothic Lolita Wigs
Shoes and Accessories – Off Brand

So I am a little late on posting about the MLS Meet-Up from last weekend. There were so many events scheduled for this month, both in Milwaukee and in Chicago, and I wish I could have gone to them all. The main ones that I am sorry to have missed was a Build-a-Bear meet-up in Milwaukee (I wanted to build a Clarice!), a group outing to see Nutcracker in Milwaukee (I could not afford it), and a trip to the Christkindlmarket in Chicago.
Saturday, before members attending The Nutcracker ran off (and before I ran off to another party), several of us gathered at one of the members’ apartment for a cookie exchange party.
The rule was, you had to bring two cookies per every person attending; one to eat there, and one to take home. The cookies could be home made or store bought, it did not matter. Most of us ended up bringing extra just in case, but even eating one of each was so many cookies.
That was only my first round! Several girls arrived late, so there were even more cookies to be had. The cookies I brought were the green ones just under the Oreo-looking cookie (they are not Oreos). They are Mint Meringues, and are my holiday specialty. There was also Hot Chocolate, Champagne, Wine, and various other drinks available. It was a nice casual meet-up where we could mingle and talk easily. One of the girls was wearing a dress that I have been absolutely drooling over, so I of course took the opportunity to touch it and poke at it….I only want it more now.
I think this was the complete group of us, plus there were several guys present, but they mostly hung out in the other room playing video games (there was a little boy for about an hour, he was so excited when we told him to have some cookies).
As my wardrobe is still growing, it was time to repeat, yet again. I tried to go for a sort of snowflake/nutcracker sort of look with the jacket I wore. I almost made a new skirt for the event, but I just did not have the time or energy. It is frustrating right now, having so little and having to repeat so often, but it is a good exercise in mixing and matching pieces I already own to create unique outfits. And yes, I do not have shoes on in this picture, we all took our shoes off when we entered (though some girls brought shoes just to wear inside). I live in the Midwest, and we were already under a blanket of snow, so I wore snow boots with my outfit. No, not very Lolita, but very practical for trudging through snow and walking on ice.
The next meet-up is the big Holiday gathering for MLS, and it takes place tomorrow. I am really excited to wear my Infanta Toy Factory JSK that I have been sitting on, unworn, for several months now. I wish I had a red blouse to go with it, but at least I now have a white blouse (as opposed to the one black blouse I was stuck with for the longest time).

I am absolutely in love with Infanta, and I want so many of their dresses. I know I definitely want one of their Rose Cathedral one pieces, I just cannot decide between Purple, Navy, and Green. They also have Red, but I am more a fan of cool colors in Lolita (cool as in warm vs. cool, not cool as in “cool”).
I really like their Black Magic dress as well, but lucky for me they included the source of my phobia in the print, so I could not really get past that enough to want it. Where it not for that, I would totally want the black one.
Still, Infanta continues to entice me. I have a feeling my wardrobe is always going to be at least 50% Infanta. As is now, ALL of my JSK’s (which, admittedly, is only three) are Infanta.
Rose Cathedral OP
Black Magic JSK
Black Magic Salopette
Afterthought, I have still not receive the shipping alert for my latest Clobba order, but I am hoping I will soon. I have a meet-up a week from Sunday, and I have nothing to wear! Plus side, I will be picking up the items from my group order at that meet-up.

inI thought I had a good grasp of Taobao now, thanks to Google Chrome’s auto translate, until browsing Qutieland and noticing several new dresses labeled as New and Infanta. Of course I immediately went to the Infanta Taobao site, and searched by “new products,” but I still see things out of order. So very strange. I am surprised these new dresses are not advertised on their main page either.
There are several items I do not recognize from before, but two dresses stood out to me:
I am not entirely sure how I feel about these, actually. Both are nautically/sailor themed, which I feel is great for summer. The dress on the left seems almost a bit too childish and busy for me, while the dress on the right almost feels too…colonial the way the stripes match with the accents. I like both, but I do not love either. Between the two, I think I prefer the Rope dress. I wish I could try each of these on to see how they look on me before making a final decision. I definitely prefer the above colors though. The Rope dress has also a Sax/White and a Navy/White with a pale pink background, while the striped dress has red striped as well.

inI am so excited, my wig just arrived. I want to wear it somewhere now, but I am going to be in Stormtrooper armor tonight, so that will not work. Anyhow, I ordered a Short Blended Babydoll Lolita wig, in Choco-Latte. Here is the stock photo:
I wanted a wig that had some blonde to it, but that would still look like it belonged on my head. I am Sicilian, with an olive complexion, so straight blonde wigs look funny on me, at least they do to me. I also wanted something that was natural colored, since most of my Lolita wardrobe will be Classic Lolita. Anyhow, on to the pictures of me with the wig.
Please excuse me if it looks a little off, my hair is only pulled back by a clip behind my back rather than done up under the wig like I would normally do, and I am getting ready for my troop tonight (leaving in about 30 minutes), so no fancy dress or anything. Here is a picture of me wearing the wig with my Infanta Sleeping Beauty Bow and one with the full wig without the bow:
I had not worn the bow with the dress at my last meet-up because it was much too large for just my hair, but it looks much better with the wig and pigtails. I know most people trim the bangs on their wigs, but I have always felt my forehead was too short for bangs, and they would look funny trimmed short enough to hang as a straight fringe over my eyes. I actually used to have bangs as a little girl, and they ALWAYS ended up swept to the sides like I have here, so it is actually pretty accurate for me. Here is a picture of just the base wig without the pigtails:
When I ordered my blonde wig for Harley, I hated that the pigtails were detachable at first. Now, I love the fact that they are made detachable, because I can wear the wig with them or without them for more style options.
My order also came with a free set of Eyelashes, they are the Dolluxe #2 Harajuku Honey eyelashes. I am thinking of just selling them, or donating them to a raffle eventually. I never wear fake eyelashes, so they will be of no use to me.
Next wig I purchase will be darker than this one, but still lighter than my own hair. I am thinking of the Short Babydoll Lolita in Chocolate Brown.
