Newish Items – Lariat Headpiece

, , ,

I wanted to have a massive post of all my newer items, but I just have not had the chance to pull my dressform out and take the pictures.  However, I am considering wearing this item to the Megameet this weekend, so I had it out already.

I bought this one at here, and unfortunately when I bought it they only had the gold, so I am dying to see another group order so that I can order the silver (I wear a LOT more silver).

There was also this one, which I really liked, but I am not a fan of the cross (though some of you may love that, which is why I am adding it).

Lack of Lolita

I am still here, just not doing much with Lolita lately.  I have a couple of past meet-ups that I still need to post on, but otherwise, it has been a very Lolita-less year for me.  I gave my notice at my job back in April, because I was going to move to Los Angeles in May, but circumstances postponed my move, and now I am still in Chicago indefinitely, currently without a job.

It is for the best though, I need to build my resume in Chicago before hoping to do anything with my carrier in Los Angeles.  My family is probably moving to Arizona or Nevada in a couple years, so maybe I can move with them if I am doing well enough with my carrier.

The annual Megameet is next weekend, and I will be attending that (though I almost missed it).  Other than that, I have no idea what the future holds for meet-ups.

Half the problem is that the current admins of the Milwaukee Lolita Society usually does not announce the monthly meet-ups until about a week before, if not later than that, so it makes it more difficult to plan attendance.  Things change though, and I may become more involved with the Lolita’s in Chicago, although I am very disappointed that I will not be meeting the new Lolita’s in L.A. and Arizona (I joined both groups) anytime soon.

I think I also have a few new-ish items to post and update in my wardrobe tab.  I will have to double check what is there and what is not and update everything soon.  Part of me hopes there will be another group order sometime soon…then again if I do not have a job soon, I will not even be able to afford my bills, so maybe not.

That is all for now, just a quick update.  More to come in the weeks to follow.

Milwaukee Meet-Up: Carini’s Valentine’s Day Dinner

, , , ,

On Sunday the Milwaukee Lolita Society met up at Carini’s for a Valentine’s Day Dinner, very much like our typical holiday dinner in December.  We even brought items to exchange like at our holiday dinner, though I do not believe I received everything…or maybe some people just could not bring anything.  Either way, here is my V-Day Haul:

I ended up arriving late due to the regulator in one of my windows breaking, but not horribly late.  I ended up sitting at a table with girls I did not know that well, including one brand new girl, but I enjoyed myself.

We did not take pictures at the end of the night, as a few of the girls had rides they had to rush out for, but I did snap a few before I changed once I returned home.

Please excuse the mess, I am currently moving out of my apartment.  The lighting is not very good in my room either.

Close up on the accessories.  I just realized that it looks like I had been crying in this picture, I had been.  No worries, just had a rough day and being alone in a car is a good place to let those emotions out.

JSK is Infanta
Blouse is Forever 21

I have also received my Taobao order after dinner, so I will have to get pictures of those taken to upload.  Next weekend is another Milwaukee meet up as well, so I should have a couple of posts going up in the next few weeks.  I am moving to Los Angeles in less than three months, so I need to visit my comm as much as possible before saying goodbye.

Lolita Level Up Quiz Take Three

, ,

I took this quiz two years ago , results here.

I took this quiz one year ago, results here.

This year, the quiz is in check box format here.

My result this year was 56, three more points than last year, though I still fall into the same category.

41-60: Well-Rounded Lolita

41-60 points means you’re probably a very well-rounded Lolita. You have a fair sized wardrobe that allows a variety of outfits and some style experimentation, you have a few Lolita friends, and you’ve attended your fair share of meetups and even fashion shows. You probably have a few volumes of the Gothic & Lolita Bible hanging around your bookshelf and you’ve definitely taken an interest in Lolita hobbies. Your next step is probably to step out of your comfort bubble, try a new style you’ve always wanted to try, host your own meetups, or perhaps finally apply to be a model for a local Lolita fashion show.

So, to make it to “Experienced Lolita,” I need four more points, so my goals for next year are to check off the following:

  • You own a parasol
  • You’ve bought a lucky pack
  • You’ve paid less than 20% the retail price for secondhand brand (ex you paid $40 for a piece that originally cost $200)
  • You wear a print you’ve designed yourself
  • You own an old school rectangle headdress

Lack of Everything

, ,

I have been wanting to update here for a while, but there has just been nothing going on in my Lolita life lately.  The January & February Meet-Ups for my comm were both scheduled for weekends that I was/will be in Los Angeles.

An additional February Meet-Up was just posted last night though, the Sunday before Valentines Day.  It will be Valentine’s Day themed, although with me not doing red and pink colors really, I am stretched on this one.  I think I am going to go with my Infanta Cinderella JSK (light blue) and accessorize with hearts and pink.  I wish I had ordered a pink blouse now. 😦

I also have several items that I should be receiving that day from one of the girls who ran a group order (unfortunately no pink blouse).  So, once that meet-up happens, I will have a couple of posts to make.

Back to the note of LA, I am moving there this May, so I have started looking for the Lolita groups in the area.  I know I submitted to join one or two of them on Facebook, but I am not sure I ever got approved.  I should see if I can find them again.  It will be sad to leave my current comm, but I am really excited to meet a whole new group of girls.

2017 New Years Resolutions

, ,

First the repeats from last year:

1.  Buy more Blouses, of various colors and necklines.
Goal is a peter pan collar in white, a tan , a forest/hunter green, and a dark purple, and then maybe some cutsews.  Yes, I won this one last year, but you can always use more blouses, and cutsews may be a necessity in Los Angeles.

2. Acquire another brand main piece, preferably not another AatP (just for variety).

3. Be more active, both in the community and on here.
Goal is for at least one meet-up per month, and posting 2-4 times per month.  Being active in the community may be difficult once I move, as funds will be limited, but hopefully I can post more.  If I can do both, the new comm will be plenty to blog about.

4. Buy at least one Parasol.
Again, may be a necessity in Los Angeles.

5. Update online closet.
There are a few new pieces I need to add, just need to find the time to do it…and I good spot in my apartment.

6. Acquire 2-3 new main pieces.
The brand piece counts for this.

2016 Resolutions Review

, ,

Time to see what I succeeded in and what I failed in before making new Lolita resolutions tomorrow.

2016 Resolutions:

1.  Buy at least one Coat.
FAIL – I almost purchased one in the most recent group order my local comm did, but as I am moving to Los Angeles in 2017, I decided I did not really need one anymore.

2.  Buy at least one pair of Boots.
I would like some Lolita-style boots in black, brown, and maybe white and/or tan.
WIN – I bought the music themed ones from Bodyline, though I still have not had them repaired.

3.  Buy at least one Parasol.
FAIL – I saw some I really liked this year, one that was way too expensive, and others that were not TOO bad, but I would have had to get it on a plane, so I passed.

4.  Buy more Blouses, of various colors and necklines.
Goal is a peter pan collar in white, a tan or brown, a forest/hunter green, maybe a dark purple, and then some cutsews.
WIN – I have not picked them up yet, but I purchased a brown, a light blue, and a red blouse.  Not the colors I planned on (aside from brown), but still a win.

5.  Acquire another brand main piece, preferably not another AatP (just for variety).
FAIL – I have been looking, but nothing has caught my eye and been in my budget yet.

6.  Be more active, both in the community and on here.  Goal is for at least one meet-up per month, and posting 2-4 times per month.
FAIL – I have not been more active in the comm or on here.  😦  It looks like I went to only six meet-ups this year, and I made about the same amount of blog posts.

Looks like an overall fail for 2016, here is to 2017 being better.

Bodyline Review -S532 Boots (Violin Boots)

, , ,

I placed an order on September 15th for a pair of the S532 Boots, and the L580 JSK.  After placing the order, I realized I had typed my address wrong and sent them an e-mail.  I e-mailed them twice, they never responded.  The package arrived today, and the address was still incorrect, though the USPS figured out the error (quickly too, the package was only in the states for a few days before delivery).

The dress looks great so far, and I will post a review later when I can  try it on (I am currently at work).  The boots however, are another story.

I purchased them in gry-blk, and want(ed) to also order a couple other pairs (brw-dbrw and blk-owh especially), but now I am not so sure.  They are super cute, which is why I am still on the fence about ordering another pair.  I went up a half a size, and I am glad I did, they are a little tight.  I wear a 7.5 US and ordered 24.0; if I order another pair I will order 24.5.  They hurt a little on the ankle, but I could wear some thick socks to combat that I am sure.  Thanks to the inside zipper and lacing, these DO fit around my calves (I have large calves from dance and acrobatics all my life).  All of this is acceptable.

HOWEVER!  I immediately noticed that the soles are not fully/properly attached to the shoe.

On both shoes, the sole is unattached around the arch and the ball of the foot and you can see the white padding. The left shoe even had the two layers of rubber separated.  I am going to take these to a cobbler to see if this can be fixed, and depending on how much of a hassle that is, I may or may not buy another pair, but I am super disappointed in the poor quality.  Yes, it is bodyline, but I have been hearing more and more good things about them, and I have never had an issue with their clothing.  People have often recommended their shoes, and this is the first pair I bought.  I would like to think this is a one time mistake and have never seen reviews about anything similar, but for both shoes to be effected?

Very disappointed.

2016 Chicago Lolita Megameet

, , , , , , , , ,

Sunday was the 2016 Megameet, and my FOURTH Megameet.  Hard to believe I have been to five already.

This one was held in an industrial area, but the room was very nice, with a little kitchen area as well.

Upon arriving, it was a free for all eating, but you had to go up several times because people kept arriving with new food.

After food, there was the Bingo game, which went really quick, but I was lucky enough to win one of seven spots.  After Bingo, we did the raffle.  There were two winners from MLS, including myself.  After that, there was a Lolita-fied Cards Against Humanities game.

We did two groups of eight and were supposed to switch out, but no one wanted to play after the first round, and shortly after, there was a silent auction held.  Evidently the group did not make up the cost of the venue, so they did the silent auction to even it out I think.   There were six bags I believe, done up as “Lucky Packs” plus three accessory bag “Lucky Packs.”  I ALMOST bid on the classic bag, but I am glad I did not.  None of the bags ended up having anything I would have really worn.  A few of the girls were expressing disappointment.

And of course, at the end, group photos.  There was a massive group shot, but I have not grabbed a copy yet.  Here is a picture of the Milwaukee Lolita Society.

Smaller turn out from our group this year, but still a fantastic group.

This meetup happened to be my first time in Brand!  I am wearing Alice and the Pirates Ragnarak JSK, which I bought last year and almost sold immediately because it fit funny.  Turns out, the reason it fit funny was because I had a massive tumor in my stomach that was messing with my figure.

Everything I won from the Bingo game and the raffle.
